What it is…

The UP BURSARY is given annually* to two young scholar-athletes between the ages of 17 & 21.  

Total value, per recipient, is $1,000.

The awarding of the bursary to be paid in a single installment (note: this is a change to the initial three installments approach) is contingent on the successful applicant being a member in good standing at college/university, participating on a sports team, and showing a passion for some aspect of community service.


Who can apply…

The criteria for consideration are: 

1. Financial need; 

2. Academic engagement at a college or university in Atlantic Canada;

3. Membership in good standing on a college or university varsity sports team;  

4. Demonstrable commitment to serving their local community through volunteer work and/or charitable acts;  

5. A 500- to 1,000-word written essay, or a 2- to 5-minute video submission encapsulating: (a) the four components above, (b) an academic or career goal that is being consider and/or pursued; and (c) one’s intended use for the funds.
